PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. is an oil and gas production sharing contractor (PSC) and the operator of Jabung Block in Jambi Province since 2002. PetroChina works under the supervision of the upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas. The company maintains strategic cooperation with its Jabung Block partners, namely Petronas Carigali (Jabung) Ltd., PP Oil & Gas (Indonesia-Jabung) Ltd., PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Jabung and PT GPI Jabung Indonesia.
Under PetroChina’s operatorship, Jabung Block has witnessed steady production for many years and is among the most productive oil and gas blocks in Indonesia. The Block, which spans 1,643 square kilometers in Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur regencies, has seen average daily production of over 50,000 BOEPD since 2016. In 2020, Jabung was named one of top performing blocks, ranking seventh with 15,928 BOPD of oil and condensate lifting and ranked eighth with 171 MMSCFD of gas lifting.
In its daily operations, PetroChina puts health and safety as the top priority. In 2020, PetroChina received Patra Nirbhaya Karya Utama Adinugraha I safety award from The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for securing 60 million safe working hours since 2011.
PetroChina became the first PSC to receive the Gold Reward certification for Security Management System from the National Police’s security maintenance agency (Baharkam Polri) in December 2020. In the same year, PetroChina also received two PROPER Blue Awards for its Betara [Gas] Field and Geragai [Oil] Field from the Environment and Forestry Ministry.
To improve the implementation of good governance, PetroChina was among the first oil and gas companies in Indonesia to receive the ISO 37001:2016 Anti Bribery Management System certification in 2021.
Since 2002, PetroChina has invested more than USD 5.49 billion in Indonesia and allocated around USD 20 million for social investment programs in education, health, economy, environment, infrastructure, disaster relief and indigenous community development. In carrying out our social programs, we nurture sustainable partnerships with key local stakeholders to improve the welfare of people around our operational areas.
In 2020, PetroChina’s empowerment program for the Suku Anak Dalam community in Jambi won the Padmamitra Award, the highest appreciation for CSR programs from the Social Affairs Ministry.
During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, PetroChina has actively worked together with various stakeholders and donated Covid-19 mitigation supplies to support first responders and locals in fighting coronavirus spread in Jakarta, Jambi and other regions.
